What makes Butler good?

What makes Butler such a good team? They are a good-shooting team – but not great. They are a good defensive team – but not great. None of their stats there are overwhelming.

They do rebound very well as a team (plus 8), but their leading rebounder has only an underwhelming 5.7/game. They also protect the ball well, having 12.2 turnovers/game and having a 1.1 A/TO ratio.

Still, nothing on their stat sheets would convince you that they were one of the top ten teams in the country. So it must be something else. They do a lot of things pretty well, but nothing superlatively well. Their strength is something intangible. Maybe their coach can tell us what it is.
