However, there is some similarity. Both schools are in a football-crazy
state with a large university that has at least one national football championship in
their history. Therefore, both schools have to swim against the stream to some
extent. After all, even a first class basketball
program is still somewhat of an asterisk in the college sports landscape of a
football-dominated state.
But Creighton’s case does provide us with some hope. They did it,
however similar or dissimilar their case may be to ours. We might not be able
to duplicate their accomplishment, but we certainly ought to be able to do
something that resembles it, at least to some degree.
